When Marthas dementia begins to worsen, she struggles to let go of her independence and attempts to reclaim herself.
The story follows the relationship between dementia patient, Martha, and her daughter, Julie. Julie being a young adult craves independence from her mother, who also doubles as her primary caretaker. Martha however, wants to help Julie as much as she can while she is still able to do so on her own.

MARTHA: At 60 years old, she is a strict but lively woman. type A personality, with vices such as occasionally smoking cigarettes out her bedroom window when Julie isn’t home. She struggles to pay basic bills as she is provided for solely by her daughter. She tries her best to keep herself clean, gets up early, and stays as organized as she can, hoping her memory will do the same to remember Julies name each morning.
JULIE: a grown woman but young, she is dramatic, kind, and highly organized. She loves her mother but often fights with her due to Her thinned patience for Martha's mistakes and lack of composure. She is a forgiving person. She does not define her mother by her illness, however, it is not easy for her. She is young, and enjoys taking care of herself, looking put together, maybe with the hopes her prince charming will come along and rescue her from the “insanity”.
